She's fun, loud, endearing, and absolutely hilarious, and at no point did I find her to be obnoxious or annoying. Each step I take toward the side stage has me sliding down from an adrenaline mountain, and it’s jarring and dreadful. Over the years, he prioritized his daughter and their life together, but in the process, he became isolated until he met Farley. Especially, when the woman who has always been the planner down to every minute detail falls ill, only five days before the holiday. FF follows Farley (Fee) an up and coming comedienne, to take the next step in her career a suggestion is made that she might “fake date” her manager Meyer who had his own comedic success at an earlier age but leans more into writing now as he balances working with being a single dad to his deaf daughter Hazel (totes book MVP btw she is legit the best!

Also, I enjoyed the then and now chapters in this book as we got a look at their relationship both now and when they first met, which again I feel added more depth to the story.Despite the lack of a strong conflict, this is an entertaining story especially if you enjoy standup comedy. It has hilarious moments, adorable romance and so many tropes I love alongside discussions of important topics. The author describes their world and lives in the perfect amount of detail and I never felt bogged down by information dumps or confused by information omissions. I’m always a fan of this as I feel it allows us as readers to learn more about the characters in a book and their thoughts. Before you ask, yes, the commenter’s name was Chad and yes, his profile was a photo menagerie of him in dudebro trucker hats—hiding what is undoubtedly a receding hairline—holding all the flavors of Monster energy drinks and wearing white Oakleys backward on his head.

Friends-to-lovers and fake dating are my favorite tropes so the fact that it had BOTH made me so dang happy. Whilst Meyer helps Farley their barriers come down and feelings start coming out into the open where it starts to feel like anything but a joke. The character development was topnotch and I immediately felt connected to not only Farley and Meyer, but also the incredibly charming supporting characters like Meyer’s hearing impaired daughter Hazel.

Reading this hot on the heels of two BK Borison books might have been a slight mistake as this was a very different feel. I love getting lost in a story, learning something new, and discovering little-known gems from lesser-known authors. It was funny, sweet, full of feels, mutual pining which is a favorite of mine, and a really amazing friends to lovers story. The lack of this trope was definitely one of my favorite things about this book because the two leads have open and honest conversations with each other.
